What’s it about?

Yasuko Hanaoka, and her daughter Misato, are suddenly surprised in their new apartment by Yasuko’s abusive ex-husband, the situation quickly spirals out of control. When her brilliant neighbor Ishigami steps in to create a perfect alibi for the murder, they must follow his steps exactly.

Complications arise for Ishigami when his old friend from school gets involved in solving the crime.

What did it make me think about?

“Which is harder: devising an unsolvable problem, or solving that problem?”

Should I read it?

What a creative and unexpected book.  The story moves logically through the events like a game of chess.  I did not anticipate the twists and turns the story took.  And it was refreshing to not have it feel contrived in any way.  This is a new and interesting take on a mystery.  Read this one!
