Mother-Daughter Murder Night

354 pages
What’s it about?
Lana Rubicon is a tough career woman who has devoted her life to power lunches and real estate deals. When cancer takes over her body she must succumb and finds herself in a sleepy little coastal town in Northern California with her grown daughter, Beth and granddaughter, Jack. Beth is not too happy about the arrangement, but family is family- even if you never see them. When 15-year-old Jack finds a dead body in the slough (outside her window) something finally piques Lana’s interest. What did it make me think about?
Who did it and I like these characters.Should I read it?
This is a fun read with a good plot and well-developed characters. I was sorry to turn the last page and leave Lana, Beth, and Jack. Maybe more mysteries will be solved in the future by this trio? One can always hope.Quote-
“Lana considered the question. She’d drawn a firm line between work and family while Beth was growing up, putting 90 percent of her attention on the work side of the line. She’d never hung up any of Beth’s drawings In her office or left work early to see a class play. Not that she had a choice. She’d seen what happened to the careers of women who were foolish enough to show those kinds of weakness. Now Lana looked at her daughter and wondered, not for the first time, if she’d made the right decision.”What’s it about?
