What’s it about?
Violet Sorrengail is twenty-years-old and it is time for her to formally begin her studies as a scribe. She has spent her youth planning to follow in the footsteps of her father, a well-know historian and scribe. However her mother , General Sorrengail, has a different idea. So now Violet is on her way to becoming a Dragon Rider- a path that kills more than a few prospective riders. The toughest of the tough are Dragon Riders- but Violet is not known for her physical prowess. Will her sharp mind be enough to save her? What did it make me think about?
Wow- I forget how enjoyable a good fantasy novel can be.Should I read it?
So I did not really think I would like this one. However, I had a long travel day and it was in my suitcase so I thought- “Why not?”. I am not sure if it was the unending hours on the plane, or I was just in the mood for a good adventure story, but this book certainly caught and kept my attention. Part fantasy, part romance, and part adventure story- this book has a little something for everyone. Be aware if you are considering it for younger readers- this novel contains a lot of violence (and some steamy sex scenes). If you are looking for a page-turner then look no further. Goodreads has a #1 by the title. I will definitely be looking forward to #2 in the series!Quote-
“Conscription Day is always the deadliest. Maybe that’s why the sunrise is especially beautiful this morning- because I know it might be my last.”What’s it about?
